Frequently Asked Questions

Setting up your myCistern system is child's play. When you start the device for the first time, it creates a WiFi hotspot that you can use to connect to your mobile device (mobile phone, tablet, etc.). You will then be guided through a short setup process for which you will need the access data for your WiFi. And then myCistern is ready, the connection to the cloud is registered fully automatically.

Yes, myCistern uses WiFi to connect to the Internet. This is required to enable remote control and automation via your online dashboard and the app. A wired connection via LAN or a connection via cellular is not currently possible. However, these functions will follow if there is sufficient demand.

We use Blynk Inc. as a service provider for the myCistern cloud connection. The connection is encrypted.

Basically, you can use the four device sockets to control any device with myCistern that allows an on/off switch using 230V. These include garden or well pumps, for example. However, please note the maximum current of 9 amps , which all devices together must not exceed. In general, this should be enough to operate two pumps, but please be sure to check the manufacturer's information on the connected devices or contact a qualified electrician.

You can use the four 230V outputs completely freely. This means you can set any combination of irrigation, refill, drain and other valves with any combination of pumps or other 230V devices - just as your situation requires. The only requirement for the valves you use is the voltage of 230V AC.

⚠️ Please note the maximum output current of 9 amps, which all outputs together must not exceed.

Yes, myCistern can also be used to control irrigation tasks. The desired schedules are set in the dashboard or in the app. In addition, weather data from your location is used to minimize water consumption.

myCistern was originally developed for the slotted filter from the cistern manufacturer Mall, but is compatible with many other systems. The sensor is generally compatible with filters that have a container, including the classic garden filter. In-pipe filters, however, are not supported.

myCistern is compatible with all common cisterns designed for rainwater use. The fill level is measured using a cable probe supplied, which can be shortened to suit individual requirements.
